The MV-22B Osprey was carrying 23 passengers when it crashed around 9:30 a.m. local time. Twenty survivors were treated at Royal Darwin Hospital, with three Marines remaining hospitalized, one in critical condition and two stable. This incident has shaken the Marine Corps community, highlighting both the risks inherent in military service and the valor of those who serve.
Col. Brendan Sullivan, commanding officer of MRF-D, expressed his sorrow, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of three respected and beloved members of the MRF-D family. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their families and with all involved.”
